Assessment Process
Upon receiving your application and documentation, we will promptly send you an email to confirm
receipt of your application. Please check your junk mail folder, as our emails sometimes end up
there. However, no confirmation will be sent for any additional documentation you provide.
We conduct an individual assessment of your primary qualifications. In some cases, we may request additional documentation regarding your study program, including formalized postgraduate education, if any.
Once we have completed assessing your application, we will email you to notify you if further documentation is required. Alternatively, we will send you a letter containing your documentation.
We assess whether you have achieved an overall level of education abroad which is equivalent to
the Danish primary nurse education or whether you only lack clinical teaching hours in order for
your education to be assessed equal to the Danish education. In case your nurse education lacks
clinical teaching hours this must be compensated for in the authorization process that you must
complete to obtain Danish authorization. We can in our assessment include formalized postgraduate
education equivalent to a Danish Diploma program (one year/60 ECTS points) or a Master’s degree
(two years/120 ECTS points).
If your formal qualifications are approved, the letter will provide information about the
requirements for obtaining Danish authorization as a nurse. Please note that this letter does not
serve as your authorization.
Application processing time
We expect your application to be processed within approx. 6 months from receipt of your
application provided that we have received your payment of the fee in advance.
Language Skill
Passing a Danish language test is no longer a requirement before completing employment for
adaptation and training purposes in order for a nurse to obtain Danish authorization. However, you
must still be capable of communicating in Danish in order to secure employment.
It is the responsibility of your employer to ensure that you, as an employed nurse, can demonstrate
a sufficient level of proficiency in Danish based on the specific duties assigned to you. This
requirement also applies to your employment for adaptation and training purposes.
Therefore, Danish language skills will continue to be necessary for obtaining authorization and
working as a nurse. We strongly encourage all applicants for Danish nurse authorization to begin
practising the Danish language.
Employment for Adaptation and Training Purposes
When we have found your foreign education equivalent to the corresponding Danish basic
education as a nurse, you must take up employment for adaptation and training purposes
(evalueringsansættelse).
The employment is designed to assess your clinical and communication skills and it is your own
responsibility to find an available position. Your salary and work terms will be governed by standard
employment conditions. Before commencing your employment, you must beforehand have applied
and obtain a temporary authorization (evalueringsautorisation)..
