Requirements to work as a Healthcare professional / Nurse in Belgium


In Belgium, healthcare is a regulated profession requiring specialized education and training. The profession is governed by the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC), which ensures that healthcare professionals meet the required standards of practice and qualifications.

Educational Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Post Basic BSc Nursing or BSc Nursing) or a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution. For doctors and other healthcare professionals, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is mandatory.

Work Experience:
Prior working experience is not mandatory, making it an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates. 

Requirements for Registration:
• A Diploma or Degree in Nursing or Medical Sciences (for Doctors).
• Proficiency at B1 level in Dutch, French, or German (recommended but not mandatory for appointment; required after joining).
• A minimum of 900 hours of clinical training, equivalent to 60 ECTS credits, divided equally into 450 hours (30 ECTS credits) of theoretical and practical training.

Recruitment Process:
• Submission of CV.
• Interview with our Belgium office.
• Interview with the Trust/Hospital.
• Final interview and agreement registration with our Delhi office.
• Issuance of a conditional offer letter (appointment letter from the Belgian employer).
• Application for specific recognition of your foreign qualification through NARIC.
• Approval from NARIC.
• Receipt of a formal appointment offer from the employer.
• Visa application.
• Travel and commence duties.
Note: Foreign nurses and doctors must be able to communicate in Dutch, German, or French, depending on the institution's location. Language training can be completed while in active service.
